What is a jingle?
A jingle is a short slogan, or tune that is designed to be easily remembered, and is commonly used in advertising.
What makes a Jingle so Effective?
It is an effective form of advertising because, nowadays it is hard for companies to find ways to achieve marketers. Many companies have turn to social media to help grab their targeted audience. Since there are so many companies out there, social media has become an overcrowded shouting match, with people using random hashtags to gain followers. A jingle is an effect form of advertising because the company can get their message through a catchy, yet easily memorized slogan, that has the ability to invoke emotion and nostalgic memories.
One way that makes a jingle catchy is by keeping it short and sweet so that the customers do not feel so overwhelm, which makes it easier for them to sing along. By doing this, it is easy for the jingle to stay in the customers head which is beneficial for the company. Also jingles should be positive because no on wants to remember a negative jingle so making it positive is a way to make it memorable.
Another way to make a jingle effective would be by making the jingle memorable for the customer. When something is memorable it gives a sense of nostalgia because it reminds them of their past. when people think of McDonalds they think of “budabubaba I'm lovin’ it” most of them will think of their childhood and hopefully it will bring back fond memories. Another example of an effective jingle is Swiss Chalet’s “always so good for so little” and Tim Hortons “always fresh, always Tim Hortons”. It is a great way for customers to remember your business; so if anyone forgets your business they can always just sing it!
Finally, a way that causes a jingle to be successful is by making it bring up memories of nostalgia and emotion. When you are a child, watching TV, the commercials and advertisements you see can resonate with you, without you even realizing it. You'll find yourself singing along to them, or humming it randomly throughout the day. When you’re younger, you’re more likely to remember things, it’s new and interesting to you, opposed to when you get older, and lose interest. And a lot of these commercials, might have nothing to do with you, but have such a memorable tune, that when you hear it later in life, it reminds you of a time in your life where you first heard it. Or maybe something significant happened to you when you heard it, and every time you hear it, you’re reminded of whatever it was that happened. With instances like this, you are more likely to purchase that product. Things that are relatable are more likely to hold significance to you. A lot of companies, will bring back older items, that bring nostalgia to people who had them, or saw them when they were younger. They normally do things like that, as limited edition things, it’s to promote the company, brings in new customers, or customers they might’ve lost over time. Sound is one of the human senses, and can be related to a point in time, so when you hear something catchy, it can trigger a memorable moment in your life.

1. You can make a jiggle effective by making it catchy because it helps customers remember it a lot easier. A short and simple jingle makes a brand more memorable in which people can recognize just by hearing the advertisement. It can also be effective by having the jingle play over and over on television or radio commercials which can make people very annoyed but it will help people remember it even more but affect the brand in a negative way. ReplyDeleteVery interested point. i think ad jingles must be concise and informative. Consumers are known to have short attention spans and important information must be conveyed quickly, before their attention shifts. Often, the only piece of information necessary in a jingle is the name of the product or brand. If the name is repeated and accompanied by a catchy tune, it is likely to get stuck in you customers' heads until they find themselves in a situation where they need to choose between products.

#3 The jingle that would be most memorable to me would be the mcdonalds jingle. It is very memorable because as a kid, it was the one thing I kept looking forward to after going to the mall with my parents. It brings back memories of the play place and constantly getting happy meals because of their toys. Also, how they used to have mcdonalds pizza and how i would always get that as well as a child. Even till this day I still get a happy meal at rare times to relive my childhood.
